The new year means a lot of people make it their resolution it be more healthy and up their fitness level. However, there are people that don’t know the right way to set these resolutions. We’ve put together a few mistakes you should try to avoid when making your resolutions this year.
- Doing too much – Fitness and exercise needs to become a habit and part of your normal routine. If you do too much too soon you will burn yourself out and not stick to your resolution. Consistency is key here. Start out small and slowly make fitness part of your routine, this will help you stick to it and become more healthy over the year.
- Only doing cardio – The treadmill or bike shouldn’t be your primary training tool at the gym. If you’re only sticking to cardio you probably won’t see the results you want. You’ll need to build muscle, which will burn fat. To do this you will need to incorporate strength training into your routine. That being said, cardio can be part of your fitness routine, but it shouldn’t be the main part of it.
- Having no plan – Not having a plan can be your downfall. The purpose of training is make progress and reach your resolutions or goals. To do this it’s best to come up with a plan you can follow to make sure you see progress over the year. A plan will help you stay on track and achieve the results you want.
- Not having a trainer – Having an expert coach you can help you tremendously. As mentioned before, some people have no idea what it takes to start their health and fitness journey.
